  I know a lot of men who could care less about a watch. That is a common mistake most men make. A watch is an extension of who you are. A lot is said just by the watch on your wrist even if you never say a word.   Lets just get this out of the way. Digital watches are great for a run or at the gym and should only be worn for such. Never wear a digital watch out and about.

The dress watch should be just that. This is the watch you wear in a suit or to a semi formal function. It should have sort of a confidence about it and not overpower your attire. This watch says a lot about who you are and what kind of person you are. This watch should be classy and not fussy. It says you are serious and take pride in your appearance and you are not afraid to show it. A dress watch can be worn in casual dress but not too casual. If the watch stands out and is the focal point of your wardrobe then you need to go for the field or sport watch.

 2. The Casual or Field Watch

The field watch is for the less formal events and functions in life. This is the watch you wear with khakis and a button down with or without the sleeves rolled up. It should be conservative and functional. This is your goto for outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and hiking. This watch should at a minimum water resistant but water proof is preferred. You can go much more casual with your dress in this watch. This watch compliments jeans a shirt or sweater and a pair of brogues any day of the week.

3. The Sport Watch

The sport watch is a hard charger and robust watch. You wear this one when you are going to get physical and need a watch that will see you to the end. Dress with this watch really has no rules other than the flashy sports watches need not be worn in more formal attire. A black or white faced sports watch with an appropriate band or strap is possibly the most versatile watch a man can own. That being said it cannot always fit every situation. we've all seen the classic Rolex Sub Mariner on a NATO strap adorne Sean Connery in several Bond films. This is a classic example of how the sport watch can be the chameleon of your watch stable.
